Hans Rancke writes:

>Ironically, the planet that gave them most trouble was propably Terra.
>Consider: By 1117 conditions on Terra had been normalized. Civil government
>had been returned a few years before. Relations between Terra and the
>Imperium were propably more cordial than ever before.

By 1117 Terra had been "occupied" for over a century. Marriages
between Imperial Marines and Terran natives had been going on for
quite some time (see the TD issue with the article on the occupation
forces). The annual soccer tournament between the Terran champions and
the Marine team was a popular event (same issue). Also, certain facets
of the occupation had woven themselves into the fabric of daily life
(I'm thinking specifically of the "fixed times for visiting others"
mentioned in _Sol & Aslan_, a result of the curfew laws). I would
certainly believe a sizable amount of the population was satisfied
with the status quo.

Also, Terra is a high-pop world and a center of trade. One might
expect a certain cosmopolitan attitude, especially due to the
not insignificant alien presence (Aslan are stated as being present in
most major cities, the Hivers have their colony in Australia, and
there are probably plenty of Vegans on the planet at any given time).
This would tend to produce less support for the doctrinaire Party
factions and more for the liberal factions (like the HDV and
Pan-Sophontists). This as opposed to the "ethnic world" colonies which
were founded on cultural purity issues to begin with.

>And then the
>Confederation moves in. Do you think the Confederation leaders at Home
>is going to turn over leadership of the Confederation to Terra? Not bloody
>likely! I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that the first thing they do when they
>move in is to decapitate the Terran leadership with treason trials and put
>Terra under occupation - this time by _Confederation_ forces!

Note that in _Survival Margin_, Terra's UWP even after the reconquista
is A867A69-F, indicating it's still a "captive government". It calls
to mind the pictures in _Sol & Aslan_ of the somewhat
depressed-looking people shuffling through crowded city streets,
presumably on Terra, with the huge signs in the background reading
"The Party Is Freedom" and the like.

This list of Regency Aliens is a chopped-up varient of an earlier work I
have found, originally written by Mitchell K. Schwartz.

Local sentient's - major races:

Humaniti - Solomani, Vilani, Zhodani
Vargr - (someone with the correct sourcebook, please name the major races
of Vargr, and where they are... thanks.)
One major branch is known to me... the Urzaeng, as big as the
Aslan, though not as smart. (Bred by the Ancients as guards).
         Throughout the Vargr Extents.
K'Kree - there is one contient of a Regency world (names?), which is the
home of diplomatic K'Kree stranded in the Regency. Apparently,
they have managed to form a company of some kind , (in
         entertainment or starship construction?)
Droyne - are on about 20 worlds in the marches, and about 15 elsewhere
         in the Regency.
Hivers - there are none.
Aslan - there are lot's of them, esp in the rimward regions of the Regency.
Most Aslan Subjects of the Regent would be considered outcasts by
their Hierate brethern. Would someone here do a nice write-up of
Regency Aslan, please? (I would do it myself, but lack the
        Solimani & Aslan book)

Minor races

Humaniti:

Daryen (ex-Darrian's) - Daryen/Spinward Marches 0627
See Aliens 8: Daryens (seem remarkably elf-like:
           forest-dwelling, pointed ears, etc.)

Foriani - Floria/Trojan Reaches 0213
Made up of two castes, the Barnai (top) and the Feskals (Bottom).
          See TD 20.

Halkans - Halka/Trojan Reach 0510
"Halkans appear to be slightly built albinos, but they are
not. Their eyes are pale grey (nearly white). Their hair color
ranges from white to ash-pale blond. Discovered by Florian
explorers in -50 ti, they were held as slaves untol 1000's. See
          TD 19.

Jonkeereen - Jonkeer/Deneb 1324
"Geneered race [by the Imperial Ministry of Colonialization],
designed for desert existance. Originally designed for a desert
planet on Gushmege to counter Suerrat expansion in the 500s and
400s, they were developed by SUSag on Jonkeer in the 500s and
developed their own subculture in the 600s. See MTJ3."

Nexies - Nexine/Spinward Marches 3030
"Nexine is an underpopulated water world being "reseeded" by the
Ministry of Conservation (as of 1105) using biologically altered
humans. No description available. See Supplement 3 Spinward
         Marches."

Syleans - Sylea/Core
"Human minor race responsible for the Sylean Federation, which
became the Third Imperium" {Probably overrepresented in the
         Regency Nobility.}

Tapazmal - Dlaekan/Reft 3134 (the Wild side of Reft sector)
"Geneered by the Ancients for low birth rate, later raided by
the Loeskalth before annexation by the Zira Sirku. See TD20."

Other:

Bwaps/Newts - Found throughout the Regency, and was once common
throughout Imperial space. Amphibious, very good bureaucrats.

Ebokin - Based on Yebab/Spinward Marches 2202.
"Arthopod octoped sophonts living mostly planet-bound on this
one planet at TL 5." See the Traveller Adventure

Gl'lu - Kubishush/Deneb 0917
"Heraphroditic septapodal minor race. See TD1."
(A little more info would be nice, for those who don't have TD1)

Keo Neseb - Penkwar/Spinward Marches 2128
"Extinct insectoid race resembling giant praying mantises.
Believed to have reached their apex about 8 million years ago,
having reached at least two neighbors Persephone and Harvosette.
         See RICE paper on Persephone."

Larianz - Byret/Spinward Marches 2523
See Spinward Marches Campagin (again, more info for us latecomers
         would be appreciated.)

Llellewyloly - Junidy/Spinward Marches 3202
Large plant-like people. (Moble?) Population about 14 billion in
the early 1100's. Nicknames Dandies. See Traveller adventure.

Salika - Garden/Reft 0435
"Humanoid race evolved to be aquatic, covered in short fine fur
like a seal, with slightly webbed multi-jointed fingers. The Salika
abandoned their home world in generation ships when their sun went
through a hot phase about 1000 ti. Friendly and tolerant, not
prone to combat. They live only 45-55 standard years. See TD19&20."

Shi'awei - Chaosheo/Deneb 0130
"Bulky aquatic creatures; bullet shaped with 4 evenly spaced
         arms. See TD19."

Shreikers - 567-908/Spinward Marches 1031
"Intelligent hexapods about 1 m at the shoulder. They talk at the
high end of human hearing, hence their name. Achieved TL3 before a
planetary tectonic disaster shook them back down to TL0. See
          Adventure 11 Safari Ship."

Tentrassi - Origin unknown
"The Tentrassi wander space in nomad jump fleets, seeking their
lost home world. Nomad Fleet 8 visited Raweh (Spinward Marches
0137) around 1100 and again in 1122 ti. See MTJ3."
          (Any info on tech levels?)

Hello,

Did anyone on the list tried to design a low tech (TL 4-5 range) spaceship?
Is it possible to design one using FF&S rules?

Perhaps Loren or some others could answer this for me:
1.) What is the rank structure used by RCES personell? Is it that of the
Navy or the Scouts?
2.) How do you determine what a character's rank in the RCES is after
character creation? For instance. lets say a character gets rank o6 (Captain)
in the Navy, then goes to Hiver Tech, then joins the RCES (i.e. the campaign
begins). Is the character rank 06 in the RCES? Or is there a starting rank
for
officers (do they go all the way down to o1?)
Just a small technical detail that I and my players would like cleared
up.
                                              Thanks!

Was my submission on this subject of any use to anyone (other than the
couple of people who contacted me?). Anyone got any comments? Anyone want
the other Aslan careers posted to the list or shall I just send them to the
independent requesters?
